Due to the attack by Russian troops on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure, the Darnytsia CHP temporarily stopped operating.

This was reported by the company “Euro-Reconstruction”.

Currently, comprehensive technical inspections and measures necessary to restore the facility are being carried out.

“The extent of the damage requires phased technological solutions and a thorough inspection of the equipment before further operation of the heating system,” the report says.

The company promised to inform about further changes in the company’s work later.

At the same time, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited the thermal power plant in Kyiv, which was attacked by the enemy at night.

According to Shmyhal , the occupation army directed five ballistic missiles at the facility.

“The shelling was deliberate. It was when the temperature dropped to -25°C. This crime must be given due consideration,” he added.

The Minister emphasized that the Darnytsia CHP suffered significant damage, and its restoration will take a significant period of time.

Currently, options for connecting backup heat supply for houses that are in the zone of prolonged outage are being worked out, Shmyhal assured.

It is worth noting that Russia has dealt the most powerful blow to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since the beginning of 2026. Electricity generation and distribution facilities were under attack.

As a reminder, Russian troops ignored the request of the United States and violated the agreement on a temporary pause in strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities for the fourth day.
