The Kuibyshev Oil Refinery in Russia’s Samara Region has completely stopped operating after a drone attack that occurred on June 10.

Reuters writes about this.

According to the agency, the impact caused large-scale fires on the territory of the enterprise, damaging equipment needed for oil processing. As a result, the plant cannot operate even partially.

This is one of the key enterprises in the Russian oil industry. The plant is part of the Samara group of refineries of Rosneft, along with enterprises in Novokuibyshevsk and Syzran.

At the same time, the situation for Russian oil refining in the region is becoming even more complicated. The Syzran refinery has been out of operation since May after a previous attack, and the Novokuibyshev refinery has been operating with restrictions for several months.

Reuters notes that the Kuibyshev refinery processed about 4.7 million tons of oil last year. The enterprise produced gasoline, diesel fuel and fuel oil, which were used both for the domestic market and to meet the needs of the Russian army.

So a new attack could create additional problems for Russia with fuel production and supply, especially against the backdrop of a series of strikes on oil refining infrastructure.

It was previously reported that explosions were heard in several regions of Russia on the night of Wednesday, June 10. An oil refinery in Samara and a defense industry enterprise in Cheboksary were likely hit.

As a reminder, the General Staff has updated data on the attack on the Grushovaya oil depot, Krasnoarmeysk oil refinery, and Krasny Yar oil refinery, which were hit on June 8.
