One of the main sources of fuel for the Russian army was hit: details of the Ukrainian Armed Forces operation

The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with other units of the Defense Forces, conducted a successful operation on the territory of Russia. As a result, a strike was carried out on the Saratov Oil Refinery, located in the Saratov Region of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Powerful explosions and a large-scale fire were recorded in the area of the facility. The assessment of losses and damage is currently ongoing – the results are being clarified.
According to the General Staff, this plant is an important element of the Russian Federation’s fuel infrastructure and directly supplies fuel to the Russian army.
The Saratov Refinery is one of the region’s large industrial facilities and specializes in the production of:
gasoline, diesel fuel;
fuel oil, bitumen of various brands;
vacuum gas oil, technical sulfur and other petroleum products.
In total, the plant produces over 20 types of products. In 2023, its processing volume reached 4.8 million tons of oil.
As noted by the General Staff, this attack is part of a broader strategy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine aimed at weakening Russia’s military-economic potential.
“The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue targeted actions to prevent the supply of fuel, weapons, and ammunition to the Russian occupation forces. This is one of the steps towards stopping armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff emphasized.
As a reminder, on the night of September 14, 2025 , the Kirishi Oil Refinery (KINEF) in the Leningrad Region of Russia was attacked by drones.
As previously reported, strike drones attacked Bashkortostan, in particular , the Novo-Ufa oil refinery, located almost 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine, was under attack by drones.
