Only 500 per year: why the Western military-industrial complex does not have time to produce missiles for Patriot

Global production volumes of modern missiles for Patriot systems are only 500 units per year, which does not allow to fully cover all of Ukraine’s needs against the backdrop of increased enemy attacks.
This was reported by military-political analyst Dmitry Snegirev on the air of “Pryamoy”, analyzing the capabilities of the European and American military-industrial complex.
“We should mention the capabilities of the military-industrial complex of European countries and the United States in terms of producing PAC-3 ( missiles for Patriot systems – ed. ) – 500 units per year. This is for everyone. Note, this is taking into account the hot spots of the Middle East,” the expert noted.
According to Snegirev, over the past month, Russian forces have dramatically changed tactics, launching 96 ballistic missiles at Ukrainian cities. The high cost of one Patriot missile, which varies from $3.5 to $5 million, combined with limited production, creates difficult challenges for strategic partners. Germany has already transferred about 100 such missiles, effectively drawing on its own reserves of the Bundeswehr.
At the same time, the analyst notes, the situation is complicated by the fact that Russia is scaling up its own production of weapons and receiving ballistics from the DPRK. At the same time, European countries, in particular France and Italy, have limited capacity to produce Patriot analogues, such as the SAMP/T systems.
We will remind, in early February, the head of the communications department of the Air Force Command, Yuriy Igrat, stated that Ukraine does not have enough missiles for air defense systems , so sometimes some complexes are empty.
Meanwhile, Germany has almost exhausted its capabilities to support Ukraine’s air defense. As German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated on January 26, Germany has already provided Ukraine with disproportionately large assistance in the field of air defense: the country has supplied more than a third of its existing Patriot missile systems and is also transferring IRIS-T systems.
