Ukrainian military personnel were warned that after leaving the unit without authorization, they will now only be able to transfer to assault troops.
This was reported by hromadske.
As noted, the General Staff changed the mechanism for returning from the North-West Frontier Province – the procedure has become more complicated.
According to the new rules, individuals who previously left the army will only be returned to the Airborne Assault Troops or assault regiments.
Yes, they will no longer pay attention to letters of recommendation and written approvals from unit commanders, but will instead be sent to designated priority recruiting units.
“It is necessary to convey this information to all servicemen not as a horror story, but as information, so that most servicemen understand that the scheme of transferring them to the selected unit due to the SZCH no longer works,” was the content of a message sent to the servicemen of the mechanized brigades by one of the commanders.
As Hromadske notes, another brigade has banned issuing references and letters of recommendation to those who have left the unit without permission. Instead, they are offering to take in servicemen from the North-West Frontier Province through reserve battalions.
“Our recruitment has closed. They come and immediately join the assault troops,” the battalion commander told the publication.
According to him, he wrote a report to a soldier who went to the North-West Frontier Province to be transferred to his battalion, however, the Military Law Enforcement Service and the Central Military Commission sent him to an assault regiment.
We will remind you that in Ukraine , over 161 thousand criminal proceedings were opened for unauthorized abandonment of a military unit in the first ten months of 2025. This is four times more than in the same period last year.
It is known that Ukraine is discussing the issue of increasing the punishment for desertion , but the final decision will depend on the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
