European leaders were unable to convince Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to abandon the decision to block a $90 billion loan for Ukraine.

This was reported by Politico.

As four diplomats said on condition of anonymity, the discussion of the loan, which lasted an hour and a half, did not yield the desired result.

According to one of the publication’s interlocutors, European Council President Antonio Costa criticized Orban’s decision, calling the Hungarian prime minister’s behavior “unacceptable.”

The President of the European Council believes that Orban is violating the terms of cooperation that are the foundation of the European Union, thus crossing a “red line” that no leader has ever crossed.

As a reminder, a summit of EU leaders was held in Brussels, where one of the key issues was financial support for Ukraine , in particular the possible unlocking of a 90 billion euro aid package.

At the same time, Orban stated in Brussels that Budapest would not agree to a decision in favor of Ukraine until the Druzhba oil pipeline resumes operation.
