“Orban is gone, but his policies are flourishing”: Szibiga sharply responded to the Hungarian Prime Minister

Foreign Minister Andriy Szybiga called Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar’s statements on Ukraine “unreasonably confrontational.” He said that Budapest’s position is surprising.

Sibiga wrote about this on the social network X.

The Foreign Minister reacted, in particular, to Hungary’s refusal to join the “Carpathian Eight” – a new format of regional cooperation initiated by Ukraine.

According to Sybiga, this initiative should contribute to the development of the Carpathian region, economic ties, and the implementation of joint projects.

“The reasons for such a categorical refusal remain unknown,” the minister noted.

Separately, Szibiga commented on Magyar’s statements regarding cooperation between Ukrainian and Hungarian energy companies. Earlier, the Hungarian Prime Minister stated that his government would not allow the creation of oil product storage facilities for the Ukrainian market on the territory of the country.

“When politics interferes with pragmatic business interaction, nothing good comes of it. The latest statements from Budapest leave us perplexed. It seems that, although Viktor Orban is gone, his policies of blockade and isolationism continue to flourish,” said Szibiga.

He added that, in his opinion, the policy that the minister called “Orbanism” had previously brought no benefit to Hungary or the region.

At the same time, Sybiga emphasized that Ukraine remains open to pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation with Budapest.

Recall, the day before, “Pryamiy” wrote about Hungary’s refusal to create storage facilities for Ukrainian fuel . Peter Magyar stated that such facilities will not be built in the country, although MOL and Naftogaz had previously signed a corresponding memorandum.
