Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban ordered a halt to natural gas supplies to Ukraine starting in July.

dpa reports this.

According to the decision, the Hungarian gas transmission system operator FGSZ will not be able to provide capacity for gas transit to Ukraine.

At the same time, experts are drawing attention to the potential legal risks of such a move. Specifically, FGSZ has already sold some transit capacity for the second quarter of 2026, through June. Interfering with these contracts could lead to significant financial claims and compensation demands.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced his intention to gradually cut off gas supplies to Ukraine, accusing Kyiv of blocking the Druzhba oil pipeline.
