In Poland, civic activists have proposed awarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian people an informal “Order of the Future.” The initiative was called a response to Polish President Karol Nawrocki’s decision regarding the Order of the White Eagle.

Representatives of the Polish liberal-democratic community have announced their intention to award Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian people with their own informal award – the “Order of the Future.”

According to activists, this initiative is a civic response to the decision of Polish President Karol Nawrocki regarding the Order of the White Eagle and is designed to demonstrate the solidarity of a significant part of Polish society with Ukraine in the face of a full-scale war.

“Ukrainians are giving their lives for their security – their own, Poland’s, and Europe’s. The current decision of the Polish head of state shows how the Russian trap works,” the activists said.

They also criticized Polish right-wing political forces, saying that they are using the Volyn tragedy for election purposes, while the war in Ukraine is ongoing and people are dying every day.

“Therefore, as citizens of the Republic of Poland, we are awarding our own order. This is a bottom-up initiative. Thus, we show that many Poles will not be able to be turned against Ukrainians. We have helped and will continue to help. We do not need the consent of politicians to behave with dignity towards other people,” the activists emphasized.

They also recalled that since the beginning of the full-scale war, they have been involved in helping Ukraine. In particular, activists reported collecting millions of zlotys for generators as part of the “Heat from Poland for Kyiv” campaign, accommodating Ukrainian refugees in their homes, and supplying equipment to the Ukrainian capital after Russian shelling.

“Ukraine and I have separate national pantheons. Ukrainians will not define our historical memory, and we will not define theirs. We must talk about the facts of the past, but a necessary condition for this is the survival of both states. We cannot allow politicians to risk our common security for the sake of increasing their ratings in the polls,” the activists concluded.

As of the time of publication, the office of the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, had not commented on the statement of public activists.

Recall that Polish President Karol Nawrotsky signed a decision to deprive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle in connection with the awarding of the honorary title “named after the Heroes of the UPA” to the Separate Special Operations Center “North” of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga announced that he would return the Commander’s Cross with the Star of the Order of Merit to Poland. At the same time, the head of the Presidential Office , Kyrylo Budanov, and the deputy head of the Presidential Office, Ihor Zhovkva, announced the return of Polish state awards. They made this decision after Polish President Karol Nawrotsky stripped Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle.

At the same time, former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma and third Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko refused the Order of the White Eagle , which they received from Poland.
