Orest Salamakha, a member of parliament from the “Servant of the People” party, died in a road accident in the Lviv region.
On January 25, a road accident involving an ATV and a minibus occurred in the village of Sokilnyky near Lviv, injuring Ukrainian MP Orest Salamakha. After being hospitalized in critical condition, he died in hospital.
This was reported by Lviv City Council deputy Ihor Zinkevich.
The accident occurred on the evening of January 25 in the village of Sokilnyky in the Lviv region. According to preliminary information, the driver of the ATV was Orest Salamakha, a member of the Ukrainian parliament from the Servant of the People party.
According to journalists, the driver of the ATV drove into the oncoming lane at high speed and collided with a minibus. After the collision, the deputy was taken to one of the Lviv hospitals in critical condition.
“I confirm that the driver of the ATV that drove into the oncoming lane was People’s Deputy of Ukraine Orest Salamakha. Unfortunately, he died in the hospital,” said Ihor Zinkevych.
According to Zinkevych, at first, doctors tried to resuscitate the deputy, but at around 8:00 p.m. it became known that he had died.
Photos posted online show that the taxi sustained significant damage on the driver’s side, and the front of the ATV was significantly damaged as a result of the head-on collision.
The information about the death was also confirmed by People’s Deputy of the European Solidarity faction, Oleksiy Honcharenko.
“As a result of a road accident in the Lviv region, Orest Salamakha, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People party, died,” he wrote in a telegram.
The death of Salamakha was also reported by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s Finance Committee, Danylo Hetmantsev.
“Another terrible death. A colleague, a deputy, a patriot, a decent, reliable person, Orest Salamakha. The Kingdom of Heaven. Eternal memory. Condolences to loved ones,” he said.
Orest Salamakha was born on March 25, 1991 in Lviv. He graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic National University with a degree in Management – Logistics and the Lviv University of Business and Law with a degree in Jurisprudence.
Before being elected to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2019 in the 121st majoritarian constituency, he was engaged in entrepreneurial activities and worked at the construction company “Bud Invest Com”, including in management positions.
