“Orlan” became a “drone-mother”: the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a new Russian development

The Russians have upgraded their Orlan reconnaissance drones so that they can carry FPV drones.

This was reported by journalist Andriy Tsaplienko.

“Anti-aircraft guns of the 118th separate mechanized brigade destroyed the Orlan, which was carrying two FPV drones under its wings,” Tsaplienko reported.

It is noted that before this, the pilots of the pursuers had already shot down dozens of enemy reconnaissance aircraft “Orlan”, “Zala” and “Supercam”, but the “reconnaissance aircraft-mother” was destroyed for the first time.

As the defenders explain, carrier drones are used to deliver and launch strike drones over long distances, which poses a serious threat. Destroying such a target is an important step in countering the enemy’s new tactics.

Recall that enemy Shahed-type strike drones have undergone another modernization – some of the recently shot down drones were found to have installed video cameras.

As previously reported, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reported that , thanks to cooperation with Chinese companies, Russia receives critically important resources for the military industry . These include special chemicals for the production of explosives, electronic components, and machine tools that are directly used in the production of weapons and military equipment.
