OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Jan Braatu condemned the Russian missile strike on the Channel 5 studio.

The official announced this on his Facebook page.

He noted that Russian air strikes continue to harm the media in Ukraine.

On the night of July 6, during a massive combined attack on Kyiv, the studio and office of Channel 5 suffered significant damage.

Braatu emphasized that the latest example of such attacks was the TV channel’s office and studio, which were seriously damaged.

“I emphasize: the norms of international humanitarian law prohibit strikes on media facilities and civilian infrastructure,” Braatu emphasized.

He also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

“Today, July 7, Kyiv declared a day of mourning for the second time in a week after intense Russian air strikes, which killed at least 26 people in the capital and Kyiv region. I express my condolences for the loss of civilians,” he noted.

As reported, the Channel 5 studio was damaged for the second time as a result of a Russian missile strike on Kyiv.

None of the employees were injured. However, the studio suffered significant damage: some of the equipment was destroyed and workplaces were damaged.

It was previously reported that on the night of July 6, Russia launched a massive missile strike on Kyiv . The first reports of explosions appeared at around 2:00 a.m. The attack affected the Holosiivskyi, Podolskyi, Darnytskyi and Obolonskyi districts of the capital. There are dead and dozens injured.

Also on the night of July 6, the Russian army carried out a massive combined strike on the territory of Ukraine . One of the targets of the attack was Kyiv, where the studio and office of Channel 5 were damaged.
