On the night of Tuesday, May 5, the Ukrainian military launched missile strikes on targets in Russia. In particular, a defense plant in Cheboksary came under fire.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, during the operation, Flamingo cruise missiles were used, which hit several objects related to the Russian military-industrial complex.

“Last night, there were combat launches of F-5 Flamingo cruise missiles as part of the Armed Forces’ operation Deep Strike against several enemy targets, including military-industrial complex facilities in Cheboksary,” the post says.

The president noted that the missiles traveled more than 1,500 kilometers. The affected enterprise, according to him, manufactured equipment used in the Russian army – in particular, for the navy, aviation, missile technology, and armored vehicles.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine continues to strike at enemy military facilities and called on Russia to move to real negotiations to end the war.

According to local residents, at first a characteristic rumble was heard in different areas, after which bright flashes appeared in the sky and explosions were heard. Before that, a missile alert was declared in the city and sirens were turned on.

As reported, on the night of Tuesday, May 5, drones attacked the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation . An oil refinery in the city of Kirishi was hit, after which a fire broke out there.
