US President Donald Trump stated that since the beginning of 2025, Russia has suffered over 100,000 military casualties in its war against Ukraine — a figure he called a testament to the Kremlin’s mounting failures on the battlefield.

He made the statement on his social network, Truth Social.

“I was just informed that nearly 20,000 Russian soldiers have died this month alone in this senseless war with Ukraine. Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers since the beginning of the year. That’s a lot of unnecessary death!” Trump wrote.

He also noted that Ukraine has suffered significant losses, reporting about 8,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed, not including those who remain missing.

Trump added that civilians in Ukraine have also died as a result of Russian shelling of populated areas.
“This is a war that should never have happened — it’s Biden’s war, not mine. I’m just here to see if I can stop it,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the Russian army’s irretrievable and medical losses in July were comparable to the number of three motorized rifle divisions. During the month, the Russian Armed Forces lost 33,220 people.
