On August 30, Ukraine celebrates Aviation Day – a holiday for civil aviators and workers in industry and transport, and most importantly – for the military who defend freedom and independence.
The history of world aviation is closely connected with Ukraine. The designer of one of the first airplanes, Alexander Mozhaisky, the founder of the theory of rocketry Nikolai Kibalchich, and the creator of combat missiles Alexander Zasyadko were created here.
In addition, Ukrainian pilots Konstantin Artseulov and Vladimir Dybovsky were the first to learn how to spin planes out of free fall.
Ukraine is among the top ten countries that have a closed cycle of aviation creation and production.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian Frontier Forces’ aviation has carried out more than 14 thousand combat sorties. In addition, dozens of Ukrainian pilots have become Heroes of Ukraine, and hundreds of aviators have received high state awards.
It is worth noting that Aviation Day is celebrated annually, on the last Saturday of August. The holiday was introduced by Leonid Kravchuk in 1993 as a sign of solidarity with Ukrainian aviation specialists.
