The presidential election in Bulgaria is moving into a second round. After 95.29% of the protocols have been processed, Iliana Yotova is leading with 34.6% of the vote, while her main rival, Andrei Gyurov, is receiving 32%.
This was reported by Bulgarian National Television, citing data from the Central Election Commission.
According to preliminary results, 34.598% of voters voted for Yotova and vice-presidential candidate Kyrylo Vilchev. Andrey Gyurov and Georgy Kandev received 32.038%.
The difference between the two candidate pairs is just over 37 thousand votes.
Third place is taken by the leader of the pro-Russian far-right party “Vazrazhdane” Kostadin Kostadinov and Petar Volgin – 12.624%.
Since no candidate pair received more than 50% of the vote, Yotova and Gyurov are scheduled to face off in the second round of the presidential election on November 1.
At polling stations abroad, the picture is different: after processing 96.57% of the protocols, Gyurov and Kandev are leading there with 45.225%, while Yotova and Vilchev receive 23.143%.
As a reminder, in April, the pro-Russian Progressive Bulgaria party won the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, and according to preliminary results, it received a majority in parliament.
Earlier, after the vote, it was reported that Rumen Radev’s political force was significantly ahead of its competitors.
