Over a thousand Kyiv homes will remain without heat until the end of the season

In Kyiv, 1,126 houses will not receive centralized heating until the end of the current heating season due to serious damage to the energy infrastructure.

This was announced on TV by Kateryna Pop, a spokeswoman for the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Kateryna Pop, a spokeswoman for the Kyiv Electricity and Water Commission, said that a critical situation has developed in the Darnytsia and Dniprovsky districts of the capital. They were served by one of the thermal power plants, which will not be restored in the near future.

“Currently, 1,126 houses in the capital remain without heat supply restoration until the end of this season, at least,” she noted.

In addition, about 100 more houses in different areas of the city are experiencing local accidents. Specialists have recorded damage to internal and main networks, which prevents the supply of coolant.

The Darnytsia CHP is currently not generating electricity, which creates a capacity deficit in the Kyiv energy hub. Specialists continue to examine the rubble to assess the extent of the damage.

A special power supply schedule has been introduced for residents of the affected areas. The outages will only be in effect during peak hours – from 8:00 to 11:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00.

The crisis has also affected educational institutions. 62 schools remain without heating. The city is transferring students to institutions with working heating, including primary school children.
