The Pakistani government has officially nominated US President Donald Trump as a candidate for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his “key leadership” during the India-Pakistan conflict.

This was reported by the press service of the Pakistani government.

“At a time of heightened regional turbulence, President Trump has demonstrated great strategic foresight and brilliant statesmanship through active diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi,” the press service said in a statement.

It is noted that the actions of the American president contributed to the de-escalation of the conflict, which was rapidly deteriorating. In the end, a ceasefire was achieved and a wider conflict between the two nuclear powers was prevented.

“This intervention is a testament to his role as a true peacemaker and his commitment to resolving conflicts through dialogue. The Government of Pakistan also recognizes and highly appreciates President Trump’s sincere offers to help resolve the long-standing dispute between India and Pakistan over Jammu and Kashmir,” the government noted.

Trump himself has said that he deserves at least four Nobel Peace Prizes.

In the post, he wrote that he would not receive the award for his efforts in resolving conflicts between Rwanda and Congo, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, Egypt and Ethiopia, and for signing for the implementation of the Abraham Accords in the Middle East.

“I will not get the Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do, including Russia/Ukraine and Israel/Iran,” Trump added.

According to him, he will not receive the award, because only liberals receive it.

Recall that after the April 22, 2025 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people, including 25 Indian tourists, were killed, relations between India and Pakistan sharply deteriorated . India accused Pakistan of supporting terrorist groups, which led to a series of diplomatic and economic measures from both sides.

Earlier, United States President Donald Trump said that India and Pakistan had agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire .
