Parents of first-graders will be given 5,000 hryvnias: how to apply for the payment

Parents of Ukrainian first-graders in 2026 can receive 5,000 hryvnias from the state under the “Student Package” program. The funds are intended to prepare the child for the school year, and the application for payment must be submitted by November 1.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Valeria Koval, Ukrinform reports.

Assistance is available to parents, adoptive parents, and official guardians of children who are citizens of Ukraine and who are entering first grade for the first time in public or private schools in the country.

You can apply for the payment through the “Diya” application. To do this, you need to select the “Student Package” service, specify the child’s data, connect a special account “Diya. Child Care Card” and sign the application with an electronic signature. For those who do not use “Diya”, application is available through any service center of the Pension Fund .

According to Valeria Koval, last year over 210,000 children took advantage of the program, which is more than 98% of potential recipients. This year, about 200,000 first-graders are expected to receive assistance, whose families will receive assistance.

You can spend 5,000 hryvnia on clothes, shoes, stationery, and books. Payments are allowed both in regular stores and in Ukrainian online stores that work with the relevant categories of goods. There is no need to report purchases or keep receipts.

It is important that there is no limit on the period of use of the funds in 2026. After the money arrives, parents can spend it gradually depending on the child’s needs.

You must apply for assistance by November 1, 2026. Once approved, the funds are credited to a special account, usually within a few days, although officially it takes up to 15 days.
