Paris has put forward three conditions for using Russian money for Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron has set out conditions under which the EU could use frozen Russian assets to provide financial support to Ukraine. These requirements were announced by French Minister for Europe Benjamin Haddad during a meeting of EU ministers in Brussels,

This is reported by the correspondent of “European Pravda” .

Addad stressed that the scheme must fully comply with international law. According to the minister, Europe cannot simply confiscate frozen assets, but can use them as an advance mechanism for future Russian reparations to Ukraine.

France links the second condition to financial security: the EU and the G7 countries must provide guarantees that the mechanism is protected. Haddad acknowledged that this is what worries some countries, in particular Belgium.

The third condition is a priority for the European defense industry. France wants funds from the “reparation loan” to be directed to the purchase of weapons from EU manufacturers and for them to work in conjunction with Ukrainian defense companies.

As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French leader Emmanuel Macron signed a declaration on cooperation in the defense sector .

As a reminder, France announced another package of military support for Ukraine , which includes the transfer of additional Mirage 2000 fighters and Aster missiles, intended to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system.
