Part of the money for veterans: PACE proposes to allocate 10% of funds for the reconstruction of Ukraine

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has called on member states to allocate at least 10% of national funds earmarked for the reconstruction of Ukraine to the rehabilitation and social reintegration of veterans and civilians with disabilities, a resolution adopted during its autumn session on 29 September.
This was reported by the PACE press service.
The Assembly emphasized that supporting veterans is one of the key social challenges for Ukraine, which requires long-term solutions.
PACE also called on the Ukrainian authorities, with the support of European states, to create a single transparent mechanism for veterans’ access to benefits and services. It should cover long-term rehabilitation, psychological assistance, home care, housing adaptation, professional reintegration, and accessibility of infrastructure.
Separately, the Assembly called for a minimum package of support for veterans, including physical and mental health, rehabilitation, employment, education, housing and social protection. It also calls for at least three years of enhanced and coordinated support after discharge from military service.
In addition, PACE called on member states to ensure the possibility of exercising the rights of veterans regardless of their country of residence, and to strengthen support for their families and former prisoners of war.
The Assembly also called on European states to help Ukraine develop and strengthen its national veteran support system.
