Parubiy was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posthumously awarded People’s Deputy and former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the State.
This is stated in Decree No. 739/2025 and in Telegram .
In addition to Parubiy, three more Ukrainians were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine — Gennady Afanasiev, Stepan Chubenko, and Volodymyr Vakulenko.
Zelensky emphasized that they were special people, defenders of the Ukrainian idea and independence.
“Their lives were different, and they came from different parts of our country – Lviv region, Crimea, Donetsk region, Kharkiv region. But each of them is now for many the personification of the Ukraine that managed to show character and stand up against Russia,” he added.
Let us recall that on August 30 , public and political figure Andriy Parubiy was killed in Lviv .
Later, journalists reported that MP Andriy Parubiy was shot 8 times by a man disguised as a courier.
By the way, a video of the moment of the murder of the MP from “European Solidarity” and former Speaker of Parliament Andriy Parubiy appeared on social networks.
It is known that the SBU reported on the possible involvement of Russian special services in organizing the assassination attempt on MP Andriy Parubiy.
It is worth noting that the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada supported the appeal to award Andriy Parubiy the title of Hero of Ukraine by 230 votes .
