The Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems that the United States promised to transfer to Ukraine will not arrive in the country before the spring of 2026.

This is reported by Spiegel, citing sources in the German government.

As noted, according to the plan of the Donald Trump administration, the transfer of weapons will take place only on the condition that countries that have such complexes give them from their stocks immediately. Others must pay for the purchase and receive a replacement from the American corporation RTX.

The sources add that the process of operationally supplying anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine has proven to be quite complicated. According to them, Germany will be able to receive the Patriot battery no earlier than in eight months, and only after that the complexes will be transferred to Ukraine.

Recall, the Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, stated that Washington is considering the possibility of transferring Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems from US Army warehouses to Ukraine.

As reported, Berlin confirmed its readiness to help Ukraine strengthen its air defense. During a meeting in the Ramstein format, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that his country, together with the United States, will participate in the supply of five additional Patriot systems . The agreements were reached last week in Washington with Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth.

In addition, Germany and the United States are close to concluding an agreement to transfer additional Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. New details of the negotiations indicate that Berlin is ready to provide two more systems from its reserves, and Washington is ready to compensate them with supplies from industrial stocks . An announcement of the agreement is expected this week.

By the way, the Netherlands has declared its readiness to make a significant contribution to the supply of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine . The country’s Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans emphasized that Russia is trying to break the Ukrainian nation through massive air attacks, but international partners will not allow this plan to be implemented.

It should be noted that Washington is conducting active negotiations with a number of foreign countries regarding the possible supply of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.
