Patriot, drones and new agreements for Ukraine: Zelensky summed up the results of the G7
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during the G7 summit, partners confirmed their readiness to continue supporting Ukraine in the areas of security, energy, and the restoration of facilities damaged as a result of Russian aggression.
This is reported by a correspondent of Suspilny.
According to the head of state, one of the main issues of the negotiations was the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense. In particular, the topic was additional Patriot systems and missiles, as well as the expansion of defense production.
“We need air defense, more Patriot missiles, and we also talked about licenses and how to increase production. And I think this is a good idea that was supported today during our meeting,” Zelenskyy said.
The President noted that among the summit participants there is a common understanding of the situation on the front and the need to continue supporting Ukraine.
“It’s great that everyone understands that Russia is not winning, and we must strive to end this war,” the head of state emphasized.
Separately, Zelensky reported on the prospects for cooperation with Canada in the field of drone production. According to him, the parties have opportunities for joint projects in the military-industrial sector. Support for the Ukrainian energy sector on the eve of the new heating season was also discussed.
In addition to defense issues, Ukraine received specific agreements on the restoration of facilities damaged by Russian attacks.
In particular, France will participate in the restoration of the protective sarcophagus over the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, damaged by Russian strikes.
“France said that it understands all the dangerous consequences of the Russian Federation’s strike and will rebuild the sarcophagus in Chernobyl. I thanked them for that,” Zelenskyy said.
The president also spoke about the agreement with Switzerland on the restoration of the facilities of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
“We talked about restoring the Lavra, and they, together with our specialists, will work on this. I thank Switzerland for such an initiative and support,” the head of state noted.
Following the summit, Ukraine received signals of further support in the areas of defense, energy, and reconstruction of critical facilities, as well as the development of joint weapons production with international partners.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that today, June 16, he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the G7 summit . According to the head of the White House, the negotiations should begin in a few hours.
