Lockheed Martin said that the supply of missiles for Patriot air defense systems remains a big question mark and there is currently no exact timing for the transfer to US allies.
This was announced by company representatives during the international air show in Berlin, the Financial Times reports.
The company says it is trying to increase production of PAC-3 interceptor missiles, but demand far exceeds production capacity. Current wars and a general increase in air defense needs are also putting additional pressure on supplies.
Brian Dunn, a representative of Lockheed Martin’s missile production division, directly stated that the company cannot guarantee delivery times.
“We don’t control where and when the missiles will go. That’s up to the US government. We can’t say who will be first in line,” he said.
The company also announced that under the new agreement with the Pentagon, they plan to significantly increase production of PAC-3s — from approximately 650 to 2,000 missiles per year by 2033. But even this, according to estimates, will not cover demand in the near future.
Another company representative, Paula Hartley, noted that US partners in various countries are increasingly nervous about delivery delays.
“We see growing dissatisfaction and frustration. And I understand that,” she said.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the massive combined attack that the Russian Federation launched on Ukraine on the night of June 2. He noted that the help of allies and Patriot missiles is needed to protect Ukrainian cities from ballistic missiles.
As reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked the United States to grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot missiles . According to him, this will help increase the production of anti-ballistic missiles and strengthen the security of not only Ukraine, but also other states.
