US President Donald Trump seeks to end Russia’s war against Ukraine as soon as possible and is ready to take any steps to achieve this, which explains the constant variability of the details of his “peace plan.”

According to Politico, the main thing for Trump is the cessation of hostilities, not the specific content of the agreement. The publication notes that Europe and Ukraine were surprised by the points of the 28-point proposal, in particular regarding Donbas, which was supposed to be transferred to the control of Russia. At the same time, the White House emphasized: Trump has no “red lines” – his priority is to reach an agreement between the parties and end the war.

“The main goal is peace. To stop the fighting and stop the loss of life. That’s what he wants first and foremost,” said a senior White House official on condition of anonymity.

He added that Trump is ready to sign any agreement that can quickly stop the conflict and is accepted by both sides.

Politico also notes that the US president’s desire to speed up the deal explains why the content of his plan is constantly changing – from an ultimatum to Ukraine to a statement that the initiative is not final. Because of this, several American officials are leading the negotiations at once.

Recall that earlier the full text of the 28-point peace plan that the United States is offering to Ukraine and Russia as the basis for a future agreement appeared in the public domain. The document, which Washington seeks to promote as soon as possible, was published online.

As reported, in the updated version of the American peace plan , Ukraine agreed to reduce the size of the Armed Forces to 800 thousand people.

By the way, Donald Trump’s special representative Steve Witkoff gave advice to the Russian president’s aide Yuri Ushakov on how to properly present the Kremlin’s proposals for a possible settlement of the war in Ukraine to the American leader . Moreover, according to some indications, the peace plan itself could have been of Russian origin.
