The Pentagon plans to fine defense companies Northrop Grumman and Global Military Products for delays in the supply of artillery ammunition to Ukraine.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

The US military said it was preparing financial sanctions for the disruption of large-caliber projectile deliveries, some of which were delivered up to 18 months late. This is in response to recommendations from the Pentagon’s inspector general on November 20.

According to preliminary estimates, the amount of fines could be about $1.1 million. The final amount of fines for each company is not yet disclosed.

The command for signing contracts emphasized that the army is strengthening control over the implementation of defense agreements and applying sanctions provided for in the contracts in case of violations.

The decision on the fines came after statements by US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about his intention to reform the Pentagon’s procurement system and respond more strictly to delays in the delivery of critical goods.

The head of the US Army’s procurement department, Brent Ingram, confirmed that the agency seeks to collect fines within the inspector general’s recommendations.

According to the audit, the Pentagon’s inspector general reviewed seven Northrop Grumman and Global Military contracts totaling $1.9 billion. In five of them, the Army did not purchase ammunition directly for use by Ukraine.

It was previously reported that the US will continue to provide Ukraine with offensive weapons until a peace agreement is signed.

Recall, Estonia is preparing a new package of military assistance for Ukraine, which will include drones and counter-drone equipment.
