The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to spread the use of part of the funds allocated to support Ukraine over several years. This is about $400 million, which, according to Reuters, may not be fully used until the fall of 2029, which has caused discontent among US lawmakers.

Reuters reports this.

According to the agency, in May, the US Department of Defense informed Congress of its plan to use funds earmarked for assistance to Ukraine. The document states that the funding will be distributed gradually, and the entire amount is planned to be used by September 30, 2029.

At the same time, according to Reuters sources, even two months after the letter was sent, a significant portion of these funds had not yet been allocated or contracted.

The agency’s interlocutors also reported that a number of members of Congress are unhappy with this schedule. In their opinion, the too slow use of funds does not meet Ukraine’s needs in the face of a full-scale war.

Reuters notes that the US fiscal year ends on September 30, but the final disbursement of all $400 million, according to the Pentagon’s plan, is scheduled only in 2029.

The agency also recalled that Donald Trump’s second presidential term ends on January 20, 2029. If the current schedule does not change, the full use of this assistance may occur after the end of his term.

As previously reported, the United States may soon announce the allocation of $400 million in military aid to Ukraine, which was previously approved by Congress but was delayed due to internal procedures at the Pentagon.
