“People have escaped responsibility, are moving freely”: Murder suspect Farion recalled the “Midas” case in court
On Thursday, March 5, a trial was held in Lviv in the case of the murder of linguist Iryna Farion, following which the suspect Vyacheslav Zinchenko was sent to custody for another 60 days.
This was reported by “Public Lviv”.
By the judge’s decision, Zinchenko was arrested without bail. The prosecutor emphasized the risks, in particular, according to him, if the preventive measure is changed, the suspect may evade appearing in court and commit other criminal offenses.
However, Zinchenko disagreed with the court’s decision, calling it “incorrect and unfair,” and the preventive measure “the harshest.”
“When I sit in the pre-trial detention center, I turn on the TV and see that in the Midas case, we have precedents when people escaped responsibility, but their accomplices still leave the pre-trial detention center and move freely around the country,” he said.
In addition, Zinchenko recalled the cases of People’s Deputy Tymoshenko, the former head of the Khmelnytskyi MSEK, as well as traitors who are under house arrest and collaborators who are being exchanged for Russia.
“And I have to sit at this time. I don’t understand why? My father is fighting at the front, he has already been awarded by the president for the defense of Ukraine, and I have to sit. But he is not fighting for this, so that I can sit here, and everyone else can walk around freely. I want to feel justice, if I sit, then let all the other suspects sit. But if all the other accused and suspects are released, I also want to be released,” he added.
It was previously reported that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau revealed the names of people who reviewed information about the “Midas” case regarding corruption in the energy sector.
