As a result of the injuries, the victim died on the spot.

Law enforcement officials said that he was a well-known “public and political figure born in 1971,” but did not give his name.

“Law enforcement officers are taking all measures to establish the identity of the shooter and his location. All details will be disclosed in the manner and to the extent stipulated by criminal procedural legislation,” the statement said.

As Babel’s sources later reported, the deceased was the current member of parliament of European Solidarity and former speaker of parliament Andriy Parubiy.
