Perm refinery halts operations after Ukrainian drone attack – media

The Perm oil refinery in Russia has stopped operations after a Ukrainian drone attack on August 21. The company’s two main units, which together account for about 74% of the plant’s capacity, are out of service.

The Perm Refinery is the seventh largest oil refinery in Russia. After the attack on August 21, the plant shut down its main unit, CDU-4, which provides almost 40% of its capacity and can process about 14,000 tons of oil per day.

According to preliminary estimates, the repair of the installation will take one to two weeks.

At the same time, another main unit, CDU-5, which accounts for about 34% of the enterprise’s capacity, has not been operating since July 29. According to the agency’s sources, it was also stopped after the attack.

The plant still has two crude oil processing units – CDU-1 and CDU-2. Each of them provides about 14% of the plant’s capacity.

The Perm Refinery is located approximately 1,460 km northeast of Moscow. In 2024, the plant processed about 12.6 million tons of oil, or about 252,000 barrels per day.

That same year, the plant produced about 2 million tons of gasoline, 5.3 million tons of diesel fuel, 200 thousand tons of fuel oil, and 700 thousand tons of petroleum coke.

As previously reported, on the night of August 21, the Defense Forces struck an oil refinery in Perm, Russia, and the Marinovka military airfield in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation.
