Perm under attack: one of Russia’s largest refineries on fire after explosions

On Wednesday, July 29, explosions were heard in Perm, Russia, during a drone attack. According to Russian Telegram channels and OSINT analysts, the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery and industrial facilities in the city were hit. A fire broke out on the territory of the refinery.

The attack is reported by Russian public forums and the monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+.

According to them, the impact caused a fire in one of the refinery’s technological installations. Footage of the fire and thick smoke is also being shared online.

In addition to the refinery, according to Russian sources, drones attacked the area of logistics facilities. Russian channels reported the operation of air defense systems and a series of explosions in the city.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said that during the night, 295 Ukrainian drones were allegedly “intercepted and destroyed” over 11 regions of Russia and temporarily occupied Crimea. At the same time, the Russian side traditionally did not explain how fires broke out at industrial facilities after this.

There is currently no official confirmation from the Ukrainian side of the strike on the enterprises.

As a reminder, a series of explosions were heard in Ryazan, Russia, on the morning of Wednesday, July 29, during a massive drone attack. The strikes caused major fires at at least two facilities: an oil refinery and the Wildberries sorting complex .
