In Peru, the prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the mass disappearance of citizens who were fraudulently lured into the Russian army under the guise of employment.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
According to the agency, these cases are classified as human trafficking. Relatives have already filed 135 official reports of disappearance, and human rights activists report at least 13 deaths.
People were promised legal work in Russia – as taxi drivers, cooks or engineers – and high salaries. However, upon arrival in the Russian Federation, foreigners were taken away from their passports, forced to sign contracts in Russian, and after brief military training, sent to the front lines.
The CPD notes that such a scheme has already operated in African countries. Russia systematically uses foreigners as “cannon fodder”, compensating for the losses of its army in the war against Ukraine.
They also emphasize that the intensification of Kremlin propaganda in Latin America, Africa, and Asia has a pragmatic goal. Under the slogans of “multipolarity,” Moscow is trying to turn the inhabitants of the Global South into cheap human resources for war.
