Petro Poroshenko: funds from military levies and military government bonds should be used exclusively to finance the army.

Funds from military levies, as well as military government bonds, must be used exclusively to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Petro Poroshenko stated this from the parliamentary rostrum during the debate on bill 15110 on the collection of military tax . He noted that the European Solidarity faction, during a meeting with government members, strongly insisted on the targeted use of this money.

“The problem is how the government approaches decisions. The problem is trust, because the law was originally called ‘on military tax,’ and the funds went to eBay and other populist junk. And now, we have a very effective result from the first meeting of European Solidarity with government representatives in seven years. We agreed that every penny of the military tax goes to the needs of the Armed Forces, to increasing military pay, and to purchasing weapons,” the fifth President said.

“I think the same should be done with military bonds, which also shouldn’t be spent on three thousand kilometers of railway and a ‘single marathon’ – only for the military,” Poroshenko emphasized.

“I believe this successful example of cooperation between European Solidarity and other opposition factions with the government should be incorporated into the national unity coalition. We will insist on the return of personal income tax to local councils and the brigade accounts. Corrupt theft in arms procurement must be stopped. Funds should be sent as close as possible to the combatants. Funds for the army,” Poroshenko urged.
