Petro Poroshenko in the Verkhovna Rada: Four months of delay in the Address to the US Congress had its price for Ukrainians

Petro Poroshenko, speaking from the parliamentary rostrum, explained that the appeal to the US Congress should have been adopted four months ago, but the authorities blocked this urgently needed decision, whipping up anti-American hysteria in society.

“I want to remind you of the end of March – beginning of April. Anti-American hysteria in this hall, on Bankova’s telegram channels. Our American partners were called all sorts of names – pro-Russian, the wrong Congress, the wrong Senate. At present, our team, European Solidarity, submitted a draft Resolution on an Address to the United States Congress on April 7,” the party leader noted.

“We proposed an absolutely clear algorithm: to establish a clear minimum term for Putin and for the Russian Federation, during which he must accept the conditions of a permanent and all-encompassing ceasefire. If he does not agree to our common conditions – NATO, the United States, the European Union – we will make a decision consisting of three parts. We will receive new, unlimited weapons, we will receive unlimited sanctions that will destroy Russia’s ability to finance the war, and we will receive money. For weapons, sanctions and money, a decision by Congress is needed,” said Petro Poroshenko.

“For four long months, the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada did not put this issue to a vote, giving the answer – not at the right time,” Poroshenko stated.

“We cannot lose people. How many people have died in four months? To lose Ukrainian land. And to lose time. But better late than never. Therefore, now, despite the fact that our intellectual product has been plagiarized, we will behave like statesmen, not politicians. We call for a vote on the resolution on the appeal. We call for this issue to be raised with the new Prime Minister – to finally liquidate the illegal travel camp in order to stop the cessation of inter-parliamentary diplomacy,” the fifth President called.

“We must maintain bipartisan support. The steps that are being taken now give us hope that through our joint efforts and unity we are bringing peace closer, bringing victory closer,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
