At night, while repelling a large-scale air attack from Russia, pilot 1st class Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Ustimenko, who was piloting an F-16 aircraft, was killed.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Maksym Ustimenko, born in 1993, used all possible means of armament of his plane to the last and shot down seven enemy air targets. However, during the attack on the last target, his plane received serious damage and began to lose altitude.
Despite this, the lieutenant colonel did everything to get the damaged machine away from populated areas, but did not have time to eject. The Air Force expressed its deep condolences to the hero’s family and honored the pilot’s memory with the words: “Eternal flight, brother, you did everything you could!”
On the night of June 29, the Russian occupiers again launched a massive missile and drone strike on Ukraine, using over 500 air targets — missiles of various types and strike drones. In response, all available forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were deployed to repel the attack. Aviation was especially active, in particular F-16 pilots, who destroyed dozens of enemy “Shaheed” drones.
As a reminder, on the night of Friday, May 16, a Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet lost contact while performing a combat mission to repel an enemy air attack.
As reported, on April 12, 26-year-old F-16 pilot Pavlo Ivanov died while performing a combat mission.
