A private Learjet 60 plane crashed in a residential area in the US state of Florida and exploded, killing all nine people on board.

This was reported by the Associated Press, citing American authorities.

The crash occurred at around 12:50 p.m. local time on November 1 in Greenacres, Palm Beach County. The plane was en route from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas.

Before the crash, the pilot reported icing and severe turbulence to controllers. Soon the aircraft began to rapidly lose altitude.

“We are going to crash into the ground,” the pilot said during his final talks with controllers. Later, contact with the plane was lost.

The plane crashed near residential buildings and exploded. A large crater formed at the site, and debris flew around. Residential buildings were damaged.

According to preliminary data, no one on the ground was injured. At the same time, due to the disaster and the work of investigators, about 600 residents of the surrounding area had to be evacuated.

The crash site is located approximately 15 kilometers from US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. The investigation is being conducted by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) with the participation of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
