Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine prevented another terrorist attack in Khmelnytskyi. SBU officers detained a 16-year-old Russian agent who was preparing an explosion on behalf of Russian special services.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the minor was supposed to make an improvised explosive device (IED), plant it in a hiding place, and then another perpetrator was supposed to carry out a terrorist attack.

The agent was recruited via Telegram, where he was looking for “easy” money. After that, Russian intelligence sent him to Khmelnytsky. There, he purchased components for explosives on the instructions of the curator.

Later, the 16-year-old resident of Chernivtsi received the coordinates of the hiding place, where he took TNT and an electric detonator. He additionally equipped the finished SVP with metal nuts and hid it.

The agent also installed a remote-access phone camera on a tree so that Russian intelligence services could monitor the location of the explosives.

After completing the task, the suspect called a taxi and went to the local bus station, from where he planned to leave for Bukovina. It was there that he was detained by SBU officers. They seized a smartphone from him with evidence of collaboration with the enemy.

SBU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – high treason committed under martial law.

The minor is being held without bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

It was previously reported that the Security Service of Ukraine prevented a terrorist attack in the center of Rivne. According to the investigation, a Russian agent planted an improvised explosive device in a trash can near one of the state institutions.
