Plasma is flying towards Earth: forecasters warn of magnetic storms

The coming days on Earth may be turbulent, as the Sun’s activity has increased, and several coronal mass ejections could affect our planet’s magnetic field.

Experts predict an increase in geomagnetic activity as early as August 27, when a fast stream of solar wind from a coronal hole may reach Earth.

The first noticeable changes may occur as early as August 27. According to the forecast, geomagnetic activity can increase to the level of a weak G1 magnetic storm.

However, experts advise paying the most attention to August 28. On the sunlit side facing Earth, two coronal mass ejections were recorded — powerful eruptions of plasma and magnetic field from the solar atmosphere.

Preliminary calculations show that the bulk of the ejected material should pass by our planet. At the same time, a so-called sliding impact is not ruled out, when the edge of the stream still interacts with the Earth’s magnetosphere.

In this case, the geomagnetic situation will become even more turbulent. Increased activity may persist on August 29.

During geomagnetic disturbances, some people may experience fatigue, headaches, or general malaise. However, the body’s response to such phenomena is individual, and the direct impact of weak magnetic storms on human health remains a subject of scientific debate.

During periods of increased solar activity, experts advise not to overexert yourself, get enough sleep, drink enough water, and stick to your usual daily routine.
