Poland clarifies possible number of MiG-29 fighters for Ukraine

Poland is working on the possibility of transferring 6-8 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, which are planned to be written off from the balance of the Polish army. The final decision on this issue has not yet been made and is under discussion.

Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk reported that the transfer involves 6-8 MiG-29 aircraft out of 14 currently in service with the Polish Armed Forces.
According to him, these fighters are planned to be decommissioned by the end of December. The transfer of the aircraft to Ukraine, according to the Polish side, will not have a negative impact on Poland’s defense capabilities.
Tomczyk also noted that if the agreements are implemented, Poland may gain access to Ukrainian unmanned technologies.
At the same time, he emphasized that a final decision on the transfer of the MiG-29 has not yet been made. This issue is planned to be discussed during the upcoming visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Warsaw.
Earlier it was reported that Poland is negotiating with Ukraine regarding the potential transfer of MiG-29 combat aircraft .
As a reminder, earlier, the head of the Polish Embassy in Ukraine, Piotr Lukasiewicz, stated that Poland could transfer Soviet MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
