The Office of Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that the bill on the creation of the National Pantheon, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, constitutes “escalatory actions.”

This was stated in a message from the office of the social network X.

The statement notes that the Ukrainian government’s decision to advance the draft law on the National Pantheon, as well as previous steps to name one of the military units after “UPA heroes,” are seen as increasing tensions in relations between the countries.

The report also notes that the Polish president was allegedly “right” when he announced his intention to strip Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle, and subsequently carried out this decision.

Moreover, the Polish side stated that criticism of President Nawrocki from Poland’s ruling circles allegedly confirms the correctness of his position on Ukraine.

Against this backdrop, former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that he had donated the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, received from Ukraine, to the Museum of Remembrance of the Victims of the Volyn Tragedy in Chelm.

He described this move as a gesture of protest. He stated that the award should become a symbol of remembrance for the Polish victims of the Volyn tragedy and criticized the Ukrainian authorities, calling their actions insufficient in the matter of historical memory.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the introduction of a bill on the Ukrainian National Pantheon to the Verkhovna Rada .

The Verkhovna Rada supported the bill No. 15360 introduced by the President on the creation of the Ukrainian National Pantheon.

It is also noted that Poland will not support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union unless Kyiv reconsider its approach to honoring OUN and UPA figures, in particular Stepan Bandera.
