On the night of October 29, Poland scrambled its military aircraft and placed its air defense systems on high alert due to a massive Russian missile attack on Ukrainian territory.
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported this.
It is noted that after the start of Russian shelling, Polish and allied aircraft began operating in Polish airspace.
“The Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces has deployed all available forces and assets. Additional pairs of fighter jets have been scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been placed on high alert,” the statement reads.
The military emphasized that these actions are preventative in nature and aimed at securing Polish airspace, especially near the border with Ukraine.
“The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces is monitoring the situation, and subordinate forces remain ready for immediate response,” the command noted.
As a reminder, powerful explosions rocked Zaporizhia on the night of October 30. The Russian army launched a massive attack on the city, using suicide drones and ballistic missiles.
