Poland has agreed to transfer less than ten MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of military assistance to protect against full-scale Russian aggression.
This was stated by Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Pawel Zalewski in an interview with TVP World.
According to him, Warsaw is awaiting a response from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The parties are currently at the stage of technical consultations.
“We are waiting for a response from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Discussions are ongoing. These are completely technical discussions,” Zalevsky noted. He specified that the initial delivery involves the transfer of “less than ten” aircraft.
In December 2025, the Polish military command reported that the parties were discussing a possible agreement under which Poland could receive drone technology developed in Ukraine in exchange for Soviet-style fighters.
Earlier, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk stated that six to eight MiG-29s in the Polish Air Force are approaching the end of their service life and could be transferred to Ukraine as part of such an exchange.
It was previously reported that the United Kingdom plans to develop new Nightfall ballistic missiles with warheads weighing 200 kilograms for Ukraine.
