Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz has again stated that Ukraine has not fulfilled agreements on the transfer of drone production technology in exchange for Polish MiG-29 fighters. This time, he also mentioned the sale of Ukrainian drones to Kuwait and suggested that Kyiv’s position is influenced by historical disputes between the two countries.
Reuters reports this.
According to the Polish minister, negotiations on the transfer of the remaining MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine lasted several months. Warsaw hoped to gain access to Ukrainian drone production technologies.
“Initially they agreed to such a decision, but today they are no longer fulfilling the agreements,” said Kosiniak-Kamysh.
He also commented on information that Ukraine is selling drones to Kuwait.
“If Ukraine can already sell drones to Kuwait and make money from it during the war, then it is able to thank those who transfer their equipment to it and at least symbolically share its own capabilities,” said the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense.
Kosiniak-Kamysh suggested that Kyiv places historical issues in relations with Poland above other topics.
“I think this is due to the strategy they have chosen now: a conflict on historical grounds is shaping the political image of President Zelensky today,” he said.
At the same time, Reuters recalls that Poland remains one of Ukraine’s main allies after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, although relations between the countries have recently been complicated due to historical and political issues.
As reported, Poland does not plan to transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, as Kyiv allegedly failed to fulfill agreements on cooperation in the field of unmanned technologies.
