Ukraine warned the Polish side that any actions to equate Ukrainian symbols with Nazi and communist symbols will require an appropriate response.
This was reported by Ukrinform, citing a diplomatic source.
Ukraine is currently analyzing the legal dimension of the decisions taken and their potential impact on Ukrainian citizens residing in Poland.
According to the source, the actions of the Polish president may provoke an increase in negative sentiment in Ukrainian society. In such a case, the situation will require a reaction from the Ukrainian side.
“We are grateful to official Warsaw for all previous decisions in favor of our fellow citizens and believe that their rights will be ensured no worse than in other EU countries,” the interlocutor said.
It is worth noting that Polish President Karol Nawrocki proposed equating the “Bandera symbol” with communist and Nazi symbols in the Criminal Code.
