After Russian drones invaded the country’s airspace, Polish Foreign Minister Radyslaw Sikorski suggested that Western partners intercept drones and missiles in the skies over Ukraine.

This was reported by the Tagesschau publication.

“If you ask me personally: we should think about it. Technically, we, as NATO and the EU, would be able to do it, but this is a decision that Poland cannot make on its own, but only together with its allies,” the minister said.

In addition, he proposed a coordinated approach to controlling the Russian shadow fleet in the Baltic Sea.

“Germany or NATO could create a maritime control zone in the North Sea and thus control the entry of these ancient ships into the Baltic Sea. If even one of these Russian ships, two of which have already sunk in the Sea of Azov, were to sink in the Baltic Sea, we would face an ecological catastrophe of unprecedented proportions,” Sikorsky explained.

As a reminder, on the night of September 9-10, the situation in Eastern Europe escalated again – Russia launched a massive strike on the territory of Ukraine, while a number of enemy drones crossed the air border of Poland . This forced Warsaw to activate air defense forces and engage aviation.

It should be noted that 19 Russian drones violated Polish airspace . Polish air defense forces were able to eliminate only four of them. It should be added that later , in addition to the seven drones, a missile fragment was also found on Polish territory.

By the way, on the morning of September 10 , Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk initiated an urgent government meeting due to an incident involving the violation of the country’s airspace by Russian drones.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced the alliance’s launch of Operation Eastern Sentinel in response to Russian drone violations of Polish airspace. The following day, Poland announced the start of a military operation .
