Poland has received the first batch of South Korean CTM-290 ballistic missiles, capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 290 kilometers. They will be used with Homar-K missile systems.
This was reported by the Polish Armaments Agency on October 19.
The Polish army has received not only CTM-290 ballistic missiles, but also another batch of CGR-080 guided missiles with a range of up to 80 kilometers. The exact number of ammunition received is not disclosed.
Both types of weapons are designed for Homar-K systems, a Polish version of the South Korean K239 Chunmoo multiple launch rocket system. It is mounted on a Polish-made Jelcz eight-wheel chassis and equipped with the TOPAZ fire control system.
Each launcher has two containers that can hold six CGR-080 missiles or one CTM-290 ballistic missile. Thus, one launcher is capable of carrying up to 12 guided missiles or two ballistic missiles.
In April 2024, Poland signed a contract with South Korean company Hanwha Aerospace for the supply of 72 more Homar-K launchers and missile armament. The deal was worth about $1.6 billion.
At the same time, Poland is developing its own missile production. According to the Armaments Agency, the first ammunition is to be produced at a Polish enterprise in 2028.
Recall, Poland previously reported on the volume of military assistance to Ukraine , in particular, the transfer of PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.
