Poland deployed military aircraft in its airspace on the night of September 8 due to the activity of Russian long-range aircraft carrying out strikes on Ukraine. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were also put on alert.
This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
The Polish command explained that the decision to launch a military aviation operation was made against the backdrop of the work of Russian long-range aviation, which attacked Ukrainian territory at night.
“Due to the activity of long-range aircraft of the Russian Federation, which is striking the territory of Ukraine, military aviation operations have begun in Polish airspace,” the Polish military said.
At the same time, Poland brought ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance systems into readiness. The military paid particular attention to areas near the border with Ukraine.
The command emphasized that these measures were preventive in nature. Their goal was to ensure the safety of Polish airspace and respond quickly in the event of a threat.
The military did not report any violations of Polish airspace during this operation.
Poland’s decision came against the backdrop of a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine. In particular, Kyiv came under attack, where Russian shelling killed people and damaged civilian objects.
