On Tuesday, March 24, Poland scrambled its own and allied aircraft twice during the day due to the Russian attack on Ukraine.
This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
Amid the activity of Russian strike drones, the aviation was put on maximum alert.
“In accordance with current procedures, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has activated the necessary forces and resources at its disposal,” the message says.
In particular, fighter jets and a helicopter were sent into the sky, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were prepared.
It is emphasized that the actions of the Polish command are preventive in nature and are aimed at ensuring the protection of airspace, especially in the border area.
It is worth noting that at night, due to the activity of Russian long-range aviation, Poland also attracted forces and resources.
As a reminder, this afternoon Russia carried out one of the largest air attacks on Ukraine , striking with over 550 drones. Including night strikes, Russia has sent over a thousand drones into Ukraine since the evening of March 23.
Earlier, an Air Force spokesman said that the drones moved in “columns,” and the geography of strikes during the day was wider than at night.
As is known, on the afternoon of March 24, Russian occupation forces attacked Lviv with the help of strike drones , resulting in casualties among people and a UNESCO site.
By the way, as a result of a hostile attack by Shahed kamikaze drones in the center of Ivano-Frankivsk , two people were killed and four more were injured .
