Poland has not yet made a final decision on the transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. At the same time, Warsaw does not rule out such a possibility, but is considering it only in the format of an exchange.
This was stated by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, reports “European Truth”.
According to the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Ukraine remains interested in receiving the aircraft and has already made a request to Warsaw.
“This issue has not yet been resolved. We have received a request from the Ukrainian side, which states that it is still interested in this,” Kosiniak-Kamysh said.
He also reported that Ukraine has offered Poland an option that involves transferring drones to the Polish side within the next two years.
According to the minister, this is why Warsaw is considering the possibility of transferring fighter jets in a mutual exchange format.
“Such an exchange possibility is realistic, but it should be an exchange, not just a unilateral transfer from Poland. We are approaching this very carefully,” Kosiniak-Kamysh emphasized.
As reported, Poland does not plan to transfer MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, as Kyiv allegedly failed to fulfill agreements on cooperation in the field of unmanned technologies.
